As part of its plan to create an aerospace hub in the GTA, Bombardier has committed to giving a total of $5 million towards creating aerospace research centres at Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto. According to the CBC, Bombardier’s partnership with the Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research Consortium (DAIR) (external link)  “will set up a centre where academic and industry leaders can collaborate.” Ryerson’s Department of Aerospace Engineering (DAE) will be playing a leading role in that collaboration.

Twenty-five years ago, Ryerson launched one of the first accredited aerospace engineering programs at a Canadian university. That innovative step established a longstanding relationship between Ryerson and Bombardier, now extended with this investment in aircraft noise reduction and advanced cabin development. With its five-year commitment to supporting Ryerson’s cabin interiors research facility and team – located in a heritage aviation building in Downsview Park – Bombardier is investing in the continued growth of the aerospace sector in general and in the research and development expertise of the DAE in particular.
