The iBEST Visiting Lecturer Series is pleased to present a talk by Dr. Hagar Labouta, an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, and a scientist at Unity Health Toronto. Her research experience includes nanomedicine, drug delivery and biomedical engineering. Dr. Labouta’s team is using microfluidics to design lipid-based nanoparticles with the aim of breaching biological barriers, with a particular focus on applications related to Women’s Health. In her lecture “It Is Not Magic: Revealing the Scientific Rigor Behind Optimizing Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications”, Dr. Labouta will explore the diverse nature of nanoparticles, the barriers that hinder their efficiency, and the importance of good practices and biologically relevant models in research.
