Women's Innovation Network
The path to leadership in engineering can be challenging, especially for female engineering students who face unique barriers in this traditionally male-dominated field. At the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS), we recognize the importance of creating spaces that foster both personal and professional growth for these emerging leaders. The Women’s Innovation Network (WIN) is dedicated to building a community supported by mentorship and resources tailored to their specific needs.
WIN provides opportunities for young women in engineering to connect with seasoned female professionals and like-minded peers, bridging the gap between academic experiences and the demands of the professional world. Through four impactful workshops spread across the 2024-2025 term, WIN offers sessions covering essential skills such as self-branding, leadership development, and building resilience. Participants also learn strategies to navigate microaggressions and manage workplace dynamics, equipping them with the confidence and adaptability necessary for success. Each session promotes both personal empowerment and career readiness, preparing these students to tackle future challenges.
By maintaining an intimate cohort of 25-30 participants, WIN ensures that each student receives personalized support within a close-knit community. This environment allows for genuine mentorship relationships to flourish, providing lasting connections and a strong network of allies. With a focus on high engagement and holistic support, WIN empowers TMU’s women-identifying student leaders to enter their careers equipped with the skills, resilience, and relationships they need to excel and inspire change in their industries.
