Consultations

Five TMU community members sit around a table in the library as they discuss the EDI strategy and action plan. One student, dressed in a long-sleeved peach shirt with a laptop in front of her, smiles at another student across the table. Another student wearing glasses and a long-sleeved blue shirt holds a pen, smiling, as he listens to input from his peers.

Your input will shape the future of EDI at TMU

This project will be stronger with active participation from students, faculty and staff.

Beginning in Fall 2024, the Office of the Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion (OVPECI), will begin developing the first university-wide equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) Strategy and Action Plan. Led by Vice-President, ECI, Tanya De Mello, an appointed advisory committee will guide the project team through community consultation, research and leadership collaboration.

TMU’s EDI Strategy and Action Plan will be strengthened by a high level of engagement from students, faculty and staff, ensuring that our collective voices shape the future of EDI at TMU. Together, we will define a clear vision and priorities for the next five years, ensuring measurable progress through accountability and meaningful collaborations. All TMU community members are invited to engage in the process.

Community engagement opportunities

There will be two rounds of community engagement: a campus-wide survey in Fall 2024, followed by targeted sessions with equity-deserving groups, campus leaders and student groups in Winter 2025 to define strategy and high-impact action. All participation will determine how the advancement of EDI can support the university’s vision and will outline priorities to drive meaningful, lasting change.
