Maria Wysocki RECE, BA, MA
Maria Wysocki is a full-time registered early childhood educator at the Toronto Metropolitan University Laboratory Early Learning Centre since December 2011. Maria holds an ECE diploma from George Brown College and completed a Masters in Early Childhood Education at the Superior Educational Science Institute in Lisbon, Portugal. She has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of early childhood settings.
Maria has developed her passion and commitment to quality education and care of young children by engaging in action research and investing in professional development through the years. Curriculum, the Pedagogy of Relationships and the power of Music in early childhood settings inform and inspire her practice and dedication to children and families. Attending a pedagogy study week in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and collaborating in documentation study groups at York University, determined her focus and commitment to put the child at the centre of her practice, becoming a co-learner and co-constructor of knowledge with them. Documenting took another expression, as Maria pursued blog writing about the rich inquiry/action research happening in the classroom.
At the Laboratory Early Learning Centre, Maria values the opportunity to share with students from the School of Early Childhood Studies, her knowledge, experience and passion for Early Childhood Education, accompanying and mentoring them through practicum, and also preparing and delivering presentations in the classrooms. Maria has also supported other RECEs in the wider community through workshops.
Maria considers a privilege to journey in partnership, in these different communities of learners and citizens.
