Karen Wong graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Minor in Family Support and Community Practice. It is through the various placements that were offered by the program that Karen was exposed to many rewarding career possibilities. Karen’s career started at family resource programs in the community. She has experience developing and facilitating programs and workshops for families, such as an infant-parent program and a school readiness program. Karen values the importance of community and family engagement, especially in early years programs. 

In 2007, Karen joined the Early Learning Centre. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator, she works with toddlers, preschoolers, families, students, faculty and the Toronto Metropolitan University community. Karen appreciates the opportunities she has to develop meaningful and supportive relationships with children and their families. She loves to participate in sensory experiences with children, especially messy ones. Karen also enjoys spending time connecting with the community and planning events including fire truck tours and program enrichment with the Toronto Metropolitan University Library. She hopes to create more interdepartmental connections as well as partnerships with the greater community, 

Karen has several personal interests which include spending time exploring the city and new places, and gardening. She also spends time experimenting in the kitchen trying new recipes as well creating some of her own and making them child-friendly.
