Data Science Lab (DSL) is engaged in research and training programs. Research in DSL involves in design of intelligent algorithms and development of decision making models form risk management systems, personalized diagnosis and patient treatment systems, and process modeling systems. The research in DSL is focused on big data applications to tackle the problem of decision-making under uncertainty by using machine learning methods and graph theory to analyze complex structures in big data to build recommender systems and predictive models in software engineering, health care, smart energy grid, finance and business applications.
DSL invites applications for a one-year full-time Post-doctoral research position to work in projects in collaboration with our industry partners such as IBM Toronto Labs, Mozilla, and IBM Watson Analytics. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The position requires a PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Mining/Machine Learning, or closely related area. The successful candidate is expected to perform empirical data analysis, develop algorithms, writing publications, and presenting at conferences, working with a team of graduate and undergraduate students as well as industry partners, identifying and following through on new grant opportunities, and other aspects of academic scholarship. Candidates should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: model-driven software engineering, software analytics, software testing, machine learning applications involving big data, and distributed computation frameworks such as Apache Hadoop and Spark.
