Harneet Panesar
Harneet Panesar was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the Ontario Energy Board in June 2021. Mr. Panesar brings to the organization broad industry expertise and a strong business orientation with a focus on outcomes. Mr. Panesar has spent the last 14 years in progressively responsible positions at Hydro One, one of the largest electric utilities in North America, most recently in the role of Director of Strategy and Integrated Planning.
Mr. Panesar has a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He holds a Balanced Scorecard Certification and is a part-time lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University, teaching a Professional Master’s Diploma in Energy and Innovation. Mr. Panesar was awarded a Fellowship with Engineers Canada for his work with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and service to the engineering profession.
Katherine Sparkes
Katherine Sparkes is the Director of Innovation, Research & Development at the IESO where she is responsible for driving initiatives in support of grid modernization to enhance the reliability, affordability and sustainability of Ontario’s electricity supply. Katherine has held leadership positions in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. She currently teaches in the Energy & Infrastructure Program at Osgoode Hall Law School. An urban planner by training, Katherine’s volunteer efforts focus on improving the safety of Toronto’s streets in support of active transportation. Katherine and her family live in Toronto’s west end.
Cedric Tai
Cedric is currently the Staff Solutions Architect at GE Digital for DERMS. His expertise is in the electricity sector in Distribution systems, with focus on distributed energy resources, microgrid, grid innovation and distribution planning. He was with Opus One Solutions for 9 years and leads the Solutions and Project Management Team at VP of Professional Services with the responsibility on project delivery and supports sale and marketing team on project scoping and project origination. He is a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario with a BASc in Engineering Science from University of Toronto.
