Amr Adel
IESO Research Fellow
Dr. Amr Adel is an IESO research fellow at the Centre for Urban Energy (CUE). He received a Ph.D. degree in power system optimization from Toronto Metropolitan University (Formerly Ryerson), Toronto, Ontario. He received B.S. (with honours) and M.S. degrees from Cairo University, Egypt. His research interests include power system optimization, energy storage, and energy markets.
Since joining CUE in 2015, Amr has contributed to several industrial and research projects for our industry partners including the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Toronto Hydro and Enwave. His current responsibilities include the development of innovative solutions for urban energy systems comprising energy markets and smart grid solutions. He has more than 20 academic and industrial publications. Amr is a member of IEEE and Cigré Canada.
Before coming to Canada, Dr. Amr worked in both academic and industrial engineering fields in Egypt as a faculty member in Cairo University and a professional engineer.
