Award-winning innovation

In May, at Parliament Hill, CUE’s pole-mounted energy storage project, a collaboration with Toronto Hydro, eCAMION and the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, was recognized with the Canadian Electricity Association's Centre of Excellence Award.

Host with the most

In October, CUE was chosen as host for the 18th edition of IEEE Canada's Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC 2018), the first time that the prestigious event has taken place in Toronto.

Our new home

In November, CUE moved to the new, state-of-the-art Centre for Urban Innovation (CUI). Our space offers the latest in electrical infrastructure technology and greater opportunities to collaborate with researchers working in areas that intersect with energy, such as big data, transportation and water. Our amplified problem-solving power moves us closer toward the zero-carbon energy system of the future.

A thriving partnership renewed

In December, CUE signed a new agreement with founding sponsor the IESO to embark on energy storage and transactive energy systems research over the next 18 months.
