Dr. Esther Maier

Dr. Esther Maier is an Associate Professor and Chair, School of Creative Industries. She joined TMU in 2023 from the Lazaridis School of Business at Wilfrid Laurier University. She received a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the Ivey Business School at Western University and an MBA in Arts, Media and Entertainment Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Dr. Maier's research interests encompass creativity, innovation, and governance. Her published work explores how calculative practice shapes creative projects and temporal complexities in organizing innovation. Dr. Maier's more recent work focuses on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, including the role of the media in framing corporate scandals. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Maier enjoyed a 20-year career in corporate finance, primarily in the media and entertainment sector, where she held positions ranging from VP of Finance to CFO.
