Why did you choose the Creative Industries program?
I chose CRI because I really loved the interdisciplinary nature of the program. I loved the business exposure, which contributed to a wide range of skills and perspectives, as well as the internship component, which I thought was really valuable. Because the program was so flexible, I was also able to use my remaining electives to obtain a minor in Marketing.
What has your career trajectory looked like since graduating from the Creative Industries program?
Upon graduation, I knew marketing was my passion. I naturally gravitated to digital marketing and social media, so I joined a start up as their first employee and social media coordinator. I eventually worked my way up to brand manager, where I led the development of communications across all channels, including web, PR, brand, events, and production. Now I’m at KPMG on the Employee Experience team. In this role, I ensure we deliver a best in class recruiter experience and maintain a consistent employer brand. I develop strategies while working with multiple service lines to frame KPMG as a top employer. I'm happy I made the jump to where I am now, and have been loving the new skills and experiences that have come with it!
What advice would you give to current creative industries students wondering about their professional futures?
Don’t be afraid to try new things as a new grad. Take advantage of all the resources available to you and always try to improve your skills. If things don’t work out the way you initially planed, your learnings and observations are still valuable life experience. Be open minded, be flexible and don’t stop learning.
I’d also like to add that if anyone wants to connect or chat with me, I’d be more than happy to discuss my experiences and help you navigate the waters as you enter the working world.
