The winner of the Rosemary Reid Memorial Award is awarded to a student who brings kindness, consideration, warmth and enthusiasm to the program and their classmates. After careful deliberation, our winner for the Rosemary Reid Award, valued at $4000, is Maho Irie.
"My name is Maho Irie and I am currently a 4th year student in the modules Music Business and Publishing and Printing , and I am also minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I am originally from Tokyo, Japan and moved to Canada by myself to study when I was 15. My long-term goal is to make a change and enhance diversity within the creative industries and set an example for those who aspire to thrive internationally. Thank you so much for your help."

The recipients of the Ted Riley Scholarship in Global Licensing and Distribution is awarded to students who demonstrate a deep understanding of worldwide licensing and distribution. The individuals who both received the highest grade in last semester's CRI 820 class, an outstanding achievement, are; Matthew Chenuz, and Melissa Ricchio.
The first recipient of the Ted Riley Scholarship in Global Licensing and Distribution goes to Matthew Chenuz. Matt has recently graduated from the Creative Industries program, specializing in storytelling in media and the art and business of film. During school, Matt was also developing his professional acting career, performing for Disney Cruise Line and Drayton Entertainment, along with other theatre companies around the city until he became part of the CAEA. He was also the lead scripted development intern at marblemedia where he helped with projects such as Amelia Parker, The Parker Andersons and Overlord and the Underwoods. Since graduating in June 2021, Matt has worked on CBC’s Best in Miniature and is currently working as a coordinator on a new show being produced with The BBC called The Fashion Hero, set to film in early 2022. Matt hopes to continue his television career by becoming a producer.
Melissa Ricchio is in her fifth year of the Creative Industries program and focuses her studies in the Media Business and Storytelling in Media modules. At university, Melissa enjoys taking classes that expand her knowledge about the television industry and music industry.
For her internship, Melissa had the opportunity to work as a non-scripted development intern for Muse Entertainment. In her free time, Melissa enjoys watching television shows and movies, reading, writing and spending time with friends and family.

The Creative Industries Founders Award is awarded to two students who, through their academic work and/or extracurricular activities, embody the founding vision of the School of Creative Industries by demonstrating both entrepreneurial potential and a cross-disciplinary and collaborative approach to creative work. The recipients for this, the inaugural issuance of this award are; Omar Taleb and Abril Muré.
Omar Taleb is a writer and fourth-year Creative Industries student. Having worked at the Legal Innovation Zone, NKPR and Neshama Entertainment, he has experience in development and public relations. Omar is eager to continue his academic journey in graduate school, hoping to help bridge the gap between academia and industry by furthering his research in audience engagement with forms of digital content.
Abril Muré is a fourth year Creative Industries student minoring in Professional Communications and History. She has demonstrated impressive enthusiasm and contributions to the Creative Industries community, through her academic work and extracurricular activities. As a Creative School student, Abril has gone out of her comfort zone to participate in student groups at the Ted Rogers School of Management. She is currently the Vice President of Creative at the Ryerson Global Management Group. Through her contributions to the Ted Rogers School of Management, Abril was awarded the Student Leader of the Year award in April 2021.
Abril is the Creative Director at the Organization of Latin American Students, and represents the Creative School on the Eyeopener board for Ryerson University's Independent Student Newspaper, and she has given back to the university community by volunteering as an Orientation Crew Member during Frosh 2021, supervising events to foster an inclusive and safe environment for new incoming student students. Noteworthy, is that Abril has been doing all of this as a full-time student, and working part-time in the marketing sector.
