Poll Everywhere: Pilot ending June 25, 2024
As of June 25, 2024, TMU will end its pilot of Poll Everywhere.
While this has been a successful pilot, there are no plans to continue licensing Poll Everywhere for the university and we want to make you aware of changes that may impact you.
Additional information regarding these changes can be found on the Poll Everywhere page of our website.
Why is TMU's support for Poll Everywhere ending?
Poll Everywhere was first brought to TMU as a short-term pilot, to see how a tool of this kind could be utilized across the university. At this time, we are unable to transition this pilot to a longer-term commitment.
What will happen to my Poll Everywhere account?
When our contract comes to an end, all presenter accounts will be downgraded to the free basic plan. Prior to the end of your premium account access, we encourage you to export your Poll Everywhere reports as we will be unable to retrieve these after June 25.
Here are some of the changes you will see after June 25:
- Presenters and participants will no longer login through the university’s authentication system (CAS). All presenters will be moved to their own individual stand-alone accounts.
- Presenters will lose access to all shared activities, archived responses, and reports, unless the account is upgraded from an intro plan to a paid plan.
- Teams would no longer be accessible.
- Maximum audience size will decrease to 25 responses per activity.
- Presenters will no longer have the option to restrict responses to registered participants and as a result will not be able to track students’ participation.
- Presenters will be unable to synchronize their student roster, activity participation and grades with their D2L Brightspace course
- Presenters lose access to the Attendance Management feature.
- Customization of activities will be extremely limited.
You may continue using Poll Everywhere, but know that the features are limited in comparison to those available on the institutional license that we have had during the pilot.
Are there alternative solutions?
TMU does not have a site license for any other polling tool. iClicker continues to be supported for classroom polling, however it comes at a cost to students.
Additionally, please consult with your department to find out if there’s a license available for another polling tool.
