Ted Rogers Students' Society

The Ted Rogers Students' Society (external link)  is the student-elected society that represents over 13,000+ full-time undergraduate commerce students attending the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Established in 2003 as the Ryerson Commerce Society (recently renamed), the Ted Rogers Students' Society has a mission to link students together within the five schools at the Ted Rogers School of Management.

We enable students to be heard as one united voice and to act as a liaison and advocate between commerce students, student groups, and the Toronto Metropolitan faculty for any expression of opinions or questions affecting students' educational or co-curricular interests. It is our mandate to be the voice of Ted Rogers Commerce Students, the business leaders of tomorrow, by promoting our abilities and interests both within Toronto Metropolitan University and the global community.

Course unions 

A course union is a group within each department whose leadership organizes events and provides important information to students.

Global Management Students' Association is committed to enhancing student knowledge of, and experience within, the global business environment. Students are connected to employers through exclusive networking events and are educated about globally-focused career paths in order to expand their cultural understanding of diverse business environments. Find out more about them on Instagram @gmsaonline (external link)  

Human Resource Student Association (HRSA) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  facilitates the exchange of human resources knowledge between students, faculty, alumni and the business community. The HRSA hosts a series of events throughout the academic year, including CHRP x CHRL, Rock the Mock, TRSM Career Fair, and many more. Find out more about them on Instagram @tmuhrsa (external link) 

Hospitality and Tourism Students’ Society (HTSS) is dedicated to promoting student engagement, enhancing connections with industry leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry and organizing events and activities for HTM students, including a wine trip, annual etiquette dinner, case competitions and industry networking nights. Find out more about them on Instagram  @htssociety (external link) 

Information Technology Management Students’ Association (ITMSA) (external link, opens in new window)  is a student-run organization that provides advancement, social and academic-related events for the students within the ITM program. These activities enrich their university experience and promote interaction and relationships between students, inside and outside, of ITM. Law and Business Students’ Association (LBSA) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  focuses on enhancing the academic and pre-professional careers of the students enrolled in the Law and Business major. Retail Students’ Association (RSA) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  aims to represent, educate, collaborate, and foster an atmosphere and sense of community spirit, within the school of retail management. The best interests of the students’ at TRSM reside at the forefront of our core organizational values, and we remain driven by the passion and dedication of our team. As the official course union of the Retail Management Program, this year, the RSA’s mission is to continue exposing students to not only the career opportunities within the expansive field of retail, but also, more importantly, the diverse individuals who fill these roles. Find out more about them on Instagram @tedrogersrsa (external link) 

Toronto Entrepreneurship Association (TEA) aims to broaden the understanding of entrepreneurship within the Toronto Metropolitan University student body. Whether we are helping students start their own business or giving students a way to differentiate themselves in the corporate world, the TEA promotes all facets of entrepreneurship. Find out more about them on Instagram @tea_tmu (external link) 

Toronto Met Accounting (TMA) is the course union for students of the School of Accounting and Finance. TMA connects students with industry professionals through networking opportunities, provides education on accounting designations and career options. Ted Rogers Economics Society (TRES) (external link)  was established to be the voice of all economics students within the Ted Rogers School of Management. TRES hosts several events that expose EMS students to industry professionals and ensure all EMS students receive full support from the Career Centre and the Economics department. Find out more about them on Instagram @tr_economics (external link) 

Ted Rogers Finance Society (TRFS) (external link)  connects students to industry professionals through its many events, case competitions, information and recruitment sessions. Ted Rogers Marketing Association (TRMA) (external link)  serves the interests of Marketing majors and minors. The TRMA aims to broaden the understanding of marketing within the Toronto Metropolitan University student body, exposing students to all areas of the industry. Educational events and competitions include interactive workshops, speaker panels and networking sessions, where students gain a clearer picture of what the marketing world has to offer. Find out more about them on Instagram @trma.met (external link) 

Ted Rogers Real Estate Association (TRREA) (external link)  is the official course union for the newly developed Real Estate Management major. We strive to embody all sectors of the industry - residential and commercial sales, property development, property management, appraisal, urban and environmental planning, investment analysis and financing etc. We seek to act as the vessel that connects students with a common and professional interest in real estate through a series of highly developed and innovative programs, events, and initiatives. Find out more about them on Instagram @trrea_tmu (external link) 

Interest groups 

An interest group runs events and workshops based on a shared hobby or idea.

Black Business Students Association (BBSA) was founded in 2020, and is committed to unifying the TRSM Community by increasing the representation of Black student leaders. CSR-Society  connects with industry and academia to educate and promote socially responsible business leadership, while promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) values among businesses and all Toronto Metropolitan University stakeholders. Find out more about them on Instagram @csrsociety_tmu (external link) 

Ted Rogers ACE (external link, opens in new window)  gives students and members the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience gained in and outside of the lecture hall to develop their analytical, presentation and networking skills. Enactus TMU (external link)  aims to change people’s lives by empowering them through programs and initiatives that use the positive power of business. Members are provided the opportunity to gain hands-on experience to achieve personal and professional success. Metropolitan Data Science Association (MDSA) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  bridges the gap between in-demand data skills and the resources available to Toronto Metropolitan University Students. Toronto Metropolitan Consulting Association (TMCA) is dedicated to bridging the gap between the Ted Rogers School of Management and the consulting industry. Through networking events, workshops and competitions, TMCA is focused on educating and connecting students to professionals and firms in the fields of management, IT and risk consulting. Toronto Metropolitan Sports and Business Association (TMSBA) (external link, opens in new window)  provides a resource that allows students to learn about all aspects of the sports industry and introduces them to the different paths they can take with their degrees in business. Ted Rogers Case Team (TRCT) is a case competition team and skills development group that represents the TRSM at case competitions across the globe and aims to empower our students with the skills to become effective problem solvers. Ted Rogers Co-op Student Association (TRCSA) (external link, opens in new window)  is focused on enabling co-op students at Toronto Metropolitan University to stay competitive within the industry while also facilitating a growing co-op social community. Ted Rogers Management Conference (TRMC) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  was established to annually recognize and thank Ted and Loretta Rogers for their tremendous support of the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University. Ted Rogers Outreach Program (TROP) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  works towards encouraging prospective Toronto Metropolitan students to learn more about what our university and the Ted Rogers School of Management has to offer. Ted Rogers Pride Alliance (TRPA) mission is to advocate for LGBT+ students interests at the Ted Rogers School. Connect, develop and network all student members (not exclusive to LGBT+ students) to voluntary and professional opportunities with employers, other student groups, and other interest groups. TEDxTorontoMetU (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  is an inclusive and diverse chapter under the TEDx association and the Ted Rogers Student Society, where industry speakers spread great ideas through live Ted Talks. TEDxTorontoMetU is committed to providing Toronto Metropolitan and TRSM undergraduate students with unparalleled experiences and invaluable insights through our TEDx speeches and events. TEDxTorontoMetU fosters a community of idea sharing, professional and personal development. TEDxTorontoMetU advocates the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. All TEDxTorontoMetU talks will get the opportunity to be published on the TEDx website with a network that has millions of members. Ted Rogers Sales Club (TRSC) is a student run organization that is dedicated to teaching sales skills and strategies to Toronto Metropolitan students. TRSC organizes various workshops and networking events throughout the year to connect students with industry professionals. The aim is to contribute to developing experienced salespeople, giving them the necessary connections to succeed in their future careers. Women in Information Technology Management’s (WITM) (external link, opens in new window)  (external link)  mission is to empower, encourage and equip students in the Business and IT industry with the necessary resources to broaden their horizons, exceed expectations, and forge through industry barriers. Through networking nights, competitions, speaker panels, and interactive workshops, WITM enhances personal development by building leadership and mentorship skills.
