Congratulations to Ted Rogers School of Management PhD student Victoria Granova who was recognized as one of Canadian Security’s Top 10 Under 40.
This award celebrates the achievements of young security professionals working in Canada, and recognizes career goals, education, accomplishments, volunteerism and mentorship.
Granova began her PhD in Management part-time this Fall, and works under the supervision of Dr. Atefeh (Atty) Mashatan at Ted Rogers School’s Cybersecurity Research Lab (CRL). She is passionate about strengthening the "human factor" in cybersecurity, and is conducting interdisciplinary research in cybersecurity and psychology.
Granova previously worked as a senior information security consultant, where she oversaw the communication process for security incidents affecting multiple departments. She is also the founder of the CyberToronto Conference and the President of the (ISC)² Toronto Chapter board, where she works to create professional education opportunities and connects security groups across the GTA to advance the industry together.
Originally starting out in accounting, Granova says that she found cybersecurity by chance, and has never looked back. You can hear what she had to say about her career growth, the importance of a professional community and her future academic studies in this video (external link, opens in new window) .
Granova served as a panellist alongside the other Top 10 Under 40 winners at the Canadian Security Honours event (external link, opens in new window) held on October 7, 2021. The winners shared what motivates them to succeed and how they find mentors, and offered advice to those just getting started in the industry.
