Blockchain-enabled supply chain for building resilience through exploitation and exploration: How do supply chain contingencies affect adoption outcomes?
Summary
This research aims to explore the benefits of blockchain-enabled supply chain by addressing how it can enhance resilience – a crucial competitive attribute in a volatile business environment. The focus is particularly on the role of supply chain ambidexterity capabilities (exploration and exploitation) in achieving resilience outcomes. We also investigate the impact of supply chain contingencies, particularly dynamism and complexity, on boosting exploration and exploitation practices with blockchain-enabled supply chain. We develop a conceptual model and make propositions regarding the impacts of blockchain based on two theories: dynamic capabilities theory and contingency theory. This research takes a step towards addressing how the benefits and consequences of blockchain adoption can be realized in the inter-organizational context.
