International Students
If you’re a new student in Canada, you face unique, additional challenges. The International Student Support office can help orient you. Reach out for guidance on matters such as immigration, financial, work and health.
Academic & Learning Support
University is a big change from high school. Help is available, including:
- Peer Academic Leaders in Science connects first year students with mentors for a successful transition to university life
- Math, writing, language and study skills workshops from Student Learning Support
- Crash courses hosted by the Undergraduate Science Society of Toronto Metropolitan (external link)
- Help with transfers, academic accommodations, major changes and other undergraduate program matters through Curriculum Advising
Financial Assistance
There are many ways to help shoulder the costs during your academic career. Check Student Financial Assistance for bursary, aid and student employment programs. Register yearly with AwardSpring (external link) to be automatically matched to award programs.
Career Development
Get an early start on planning your career path at the Career & Co-op Centre. Meet 1:1 with our own Faculty of Science Career Education Specialist. Meet with potential employers at job fairs and networking events. Attend skills workshops and get help to assemble your search strategy. The faculty’s SciMentorship Program also offers career mentoring with industry professionals for upper-year students in collaboration with the Tri-Mentoring Program.
Personal Wellbeing
Knowing how to manage your personal life can boost your academic success. Check out the Student Wellbeing site to access support for personal counselling, health matters, mental wellbeing and more. ThriveTMU provides resilience-building tools and training. Keep fit and active with athletic and recreational programs.
