Family Medicine-Enhanced Skills: Emergency Medicine

An Indigenous female doctor stands in a busy hospital ward

TMU’s one-year Family Medicine-Enhanced Skills (FM-ES): Emergency Medicine residency enables both new and experienced family physicians to work as clinicians, scholars and community leaders in any emergency department in Canada. Caring for diverse populations at high-volume sites, trainees will gain the knowledge and skills they need to confidently manage high-acuity presentations and a broad range of pathologies with cultural competency and empathy.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada Residency Accreditation Committee requested additional information prior to making an accreditation decision for this program. This is an expected part of the process for new programs. The program is confident that accreditation will be granted at the next meeting of this committee on October 17th and 18th, 2024. If the program does not receive accreditation, these residency positions will be removed from the CaRMS match and candidates’ application fees will be refunded.
