In the Economics and Finance degree program (formerly International Economics and Finance)2, you'll learn how markets are connected and gain the skills to make data-driven decisions.

Through your coursework, you'll receive specialized training in economics, finance, mathematics, and statistics. You'll also have the option of pursuing paid co-op.

As a graduate of the Economics and Finance degree program, you’ll be prepared for a career in the financial industry or government. Many graduates will also pursue further studies at the masters or PhD level.

The Economics and Finance degree program is one of 11 bachelor of arts programs that share a one-year foundation.3

Academic requirements2

This is a Grades-Only program. Admission decisions for Grades-Only programs are based on academic performance.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program specific requirements.

Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher prerequisite grades and/or higher overall averages:

  • A minimum grade of 65-70% or higher is required in Grade 12 U English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)

LIBERAL STUDIES:
One course from Table A - Lower Level Liberal Studies.

Course selection must not include any courses with an ECN prefix.

2nd Semester

REQUIRED:

  • ECN 201 Principles of Macroeconomics
  • SSH 205 Academic Writing and Research

OPEN ELECTIVE: Two Open Electives.
