Is this degree for you?

Are you passionate about the environment? Understanding and managing our environment are among the defining challenges of today’s world. Governments at local, regional, provincial and national levels seek to research, understand and manage environmental issues.

In the Environment and Urban Sustainability degree program, you’ll explore how citizens, corporations and governments resist or embrace eco-friendly ideas and approaches. You’ll learn how to research and resolve environmental issues through fieldwork, consulting for external clients, investigating urban sustainability issues, going on an international exchange and pursuing an optional internship.

After graduation, your ability to interpret various environments, analyze people’s behaviour and critique sustainable initiatives will empower you to effect change.

The Environment and Urban Sustainability program is one of 11 bachelor of arts programs that share a one-year foundation.2

“Arts gave me the opportunity to learn all about the facets that contribute to healthy communities, which broadened my horizons on how I can contribute to a more sustainable future world.”

- Sarah Brigel, Environment and Urban Sustainability, Class of 2016
