THT 582 x UKAI Projects - Above GROUND / Below GROUND
Taught by professor Michael Bergmann Performance Production students in THT 582 (Show Systems Engineering) headed to The Bridge (external link) to participate and activate UKAI Projects (external link) tabletop RPG launch: GROUND.
The class displayed their final projects as an interactive exhibition in partnership with industry sponsors UKAI Projects (external link) and BlackTrax. (external link)
John Huntington, professor emeritus at Citytech (https://www.controlgeek.net/bio (external link) ) and his Gravesend Inn project were the inspiration for this event. Huntington wrote the book on Show Systems, and has been a guest speaker for this class, serving as an excellent point of reference for what is possible in THT 582 and the world of show systems.
The Show Systems Engineering class is an exploration of applications of networking and show control in the performance industry, including topics such as lighting, sound, projection, rigging, motors, and system control languages. Students are asked to engage in new technologies while developing an interactive experience as their cumulative assignment. These interactive experiences are displayed in partnership with UKAI projects and their tabletop RPG launch: GROUND.
The event happened on Friday December 9th with excellent participation from current students, alumni, staff and faculty across The Creative School in addition to key industry participants from UKAI Projects and BlackTrax.
