Fatih Sekercioglu
Dr. Sekercioglu is unavailable to supervise Occupational and Public Health (MSc) students in 2025-2026.
Dr. Fatih Sekercioglu is an associate professor in the School of Occupational and Public Health and the Planetary Health Research Lab director. He also holds an adjunct professor appointment at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine Dentistry. Before joining Toronto Metropolitan University in July 2019, Dr. Sekercioglu was a lecturer in the Department of Geography at Western University and an environmental health manager with the Middlesex-London Health Unit. Throughout his 15-year public health career, he worked as an environmental health manager, child and family health manager, vector-borne disease program coordinator and public health inspector.
Dr. Sekercioglu obtained bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering from Istanbul Technical University and public health and safety from Toronto Metropolitan University. He holds master’s degrees in food safety and quality assurance from the University of Guelph and business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He completed his doctoral studies in geography at Western University.
Dr. Sekercioglu was a Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) Board of Certification examiner for ten years and was the CIPHI National Exam Panel member between 2012 and 2019. He was appointed the CIPHI Ontario Board of Certification Representative between May 2018 and July 2019. He was a board member of the Environmental Health Foundation of Canada between 2022 and 2024. He has been on the executive committee for the CIPHI Ontario Branch since 2022.
