Chun-Yip Hon
Dr. Hon is available to supervise Occupational and Public Health (MSc) students in 2024-2025.
I am an associate professor with the School of Occupational and Public Health at Toronto Metropolitan University and have been with the department since 2012.
I have a bachelor of science from McMaster University, a bachelor of applied science from Toronto Metropolitan University and a master of science (applied) from McGill University. I received my PhD in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene from the University of British Columbia.
I have participated in several occupational health studies based in the healthcare sector, with a focus on understanding healthcare workers’ exposure to chemotherapy (hazardous) drugs. I am also examining various occupational health and safety issues in the food manufacturing sector. In addition, I have been undertaking research related to occupational and public health issues (e.g. noise, indoor air quality) of pool staff and visitors.
Generally speaking, my research interests are occupational exposure assessments, risk assessment methods, and evaluation of intervention measures to prevent occupational exposure.
Professionally, I have over 25 years of experience as an occupational hygienist and possess designations as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) as well as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
