Special Student Applications
To qualify as a special student in the School of Nutrition, you must provide:
Unofficial transcript - degree completion (within the past three years) of an undergraduate degree from a Canadian university accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) (external link)
**If you graduated more than three years ago, please contact the College of Dietitians of Ontario to write the Knowledge and Competencies Assessment Test (KCAT) (external link) in their next administration. This test assesses foundational knowledge, and if successful in KCAT level I, you are able to apply for supervised practical training programs. If you rank KCAT level II, that indicates you need updating. This process has been implemented since CDO is the body that decides who is eligible to write the registration exam.
If you are applying for the fall term, you must:
1) Review and select course(s) (see table below)
2) Complete the Toronto Met Application form by July deadline (Fall)
- Choose the Special option (SSS) from program listing; do not choose Nutrition and Food degree
- Returning Special Student candidates, within the last six terms (including Spring/Summer), are not required to resubmit a new Toronto Met application
3) You will receive email communication to confirm course enrollment
If you are applying for the winter term, you must:
1) Review and select course(s) (see table below)
2) Complete the Toronto Met Application form by November deadline (Winter)
- Choose the Special option (SSS) from program listing; do not choose Nutrition and Food degree
- Returning Special Student candidates, within the last six terms (including Spring/Summer), are not required to resubmit a new Toronto Met application
3) You will receive email communication to confirm course enrollment
