Highlights from TMU’s historic homecoming game
Between free food, prizes, a major win and a first look at the new mascot, there was a lot to celebrate as the Bold beat McGill in front of a sold-out crowd at TMU’s homecoming game on September 22. Photo credit: Emily Simonetta
In their first-ever homecoming victory as the TMU Bold, the men’s hockey team (external link) beat the visiting McGill Redbirds 4-2 on Sept. 22. Beyond the historic win, there was a lot happening in front of the sold-out crowd at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. TMU celebrated its 75th anniversary as an institution with hundreds of alumni in attendance and Jen McMillen, vice-provost, students, had the great honour of introducing TMU’s mascot and announcing its winning name.

Introducing: Frankie B. Bold, TMU’s falcon mascot! The falcon, known for their ability to collaborate together - and their blue feathers - is the perfect symbol for the TMU Bold and the university. Frankie was the chosen name based on TMU community input. Photo credit: Josh Kim
In recognition of the 75th anniversary of the institution, TMU’s alumni relations team offered the crowd free cupcakes at the end of the first period.
