Kickstart your university experience with these epic Orientation Week events
While summer is coming to an end, the party doesn’t have to stop because orientation week is just around the corner!
Taking place from August 27 to September 4, Orientation Week is an opportunity for new students to connect with the community, get familiar with their academic program, and get to know their way around campus.
This year, TMU has more than 125 events planned on campus, including engaging performances and concerts, academic programs and faculty-specific orientations and resource walkthroughs so new students know how to find what they need after classes start.

SHIFT – Orientation program for incoming students with disabilities
In-person events on August 17 and 22
Open to all students with disabilities entering any Ontario post-secondary institution for the 2023-24 academic year, SHIFT offers sessions that guide students through transitioning to post-secondary with a disability. The program also includes sessions that provide information about how to navigate Academic Accommodation Support.

Invocation: Orientation Kick-Off
Monday, Aug. 28 12 - 1:30 p.m., Kerr Hall Quad
This event will introduce you to key members of the TMU community. It will also feature live performances, our traditional class photo to commemorate the event and our annual World Record Attempt, which will be for having the loudest crowd scream.
The Renaissance Ball: Beyoncé Welcome Party
Monday, August 28 2 - 4:30 p.m., Student Learning Centre, 6th floor
TMU welcomes you to be our guest in our first Orientation Week party. Students will be able to take pictures in a photobooth inspired by the queen's new album and record videos in a 360 degree photobooth. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided at the party.
BIPOC Student Mixer
Tuesday, August 29 1:30 - 3 p.m., Student Learning Centre, 6th floor
This event welcomes BIPOC students to join and connect with fellow incoming students who share similar backgrounds, experiences and interests. This event is specifically tailored to create an inclusive space where students can build friendships, network and feel a strong sense of belonging within TMU’s diverse community. Expect a cozy environment with music, cushions, board and card games. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
The Enchanted Forest: Body Positivity Fashion Show
Tuesday, August 29 3 - 5 p.m., Lake Devo
Get ready to strut your stuff and show off your personal style at TMU’s upcoming fashion show! Whether you're a seasoned fashionista or just love to experiment with new looks, our fashion show is the perfect opportunity to express yourself and celebrate the power of self-expression through clothing.
Somewhere in the Rainbow: LGBTQ2S+ and Allies Drag Brunch
Wednesday, August 30 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Student Learning Centre, 6th Floor
Join for some outstanding performances from professional drag queens and kings. Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian breakfast options will be provided.
Fiesta Del Fuego
Wednesday, August 30 7 - 10 p.m., Kerr Hall Quad
Experience the exhilarating start to the academic year at TMU's annual orientation concert. With an outstanding lineup that covers a range of genres, this event promises an unforgettable evening of music, energy and celebration.
K-Pop Dance Class
Thursday August 31 3 - 5 p.m., Recreation and Athletics Centre (RAC), Studio 1
Get ready to move to the beat of your favorite K-pop songs at this dance event! Experience the energy and excitement of Korean pop music as talented instructors guide you through the latest dance routines. From BTS to BLACKPINK, all your favourite groups will be covered.
SLC Live
Thursday, August 31 7 - 10 p.m., Student Learning Centre (all floors)
This is an event you won't want to miss! Every floor of the SLC will be activated with activities, games, music and food in collaboration with faculties and departments across campus!
Shinerama
Friday, September 1 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Gould Street
Shinerama is an annual fundraiser which raises money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Come out to the fun fair hosted by the engineering orientation committee where there will be complimentary refreshments, as well as new booths such as haircuts, face paint and more.
Keep Swimming Under the Sea: The Little Mermaid Movie Night
Friday, September 1 7 - 9:00 p.m., Library Building, LIB-72
Calling all incoming students! As you embark on your educational journey, let us whisk you away to a magical underwater realm. You’re invited to a mesmerizing evening where the captivating tale of Ariel and her oceanic adventures will come alive on the big screen.
