Julia Shin Doi appointed a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice
I am very pleased to share with the community that General Counsel, Secretary of the Board of Governors, and University Privacy Officer Julia Shin Doi has been appointed a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto (external link) .
Since joining Toronto Metropolitan University in 2011, Julia has made numerous significant contributions to the growth and development of the university. In addition to establishing a strong governance framework for the Board, she was central in the creation of the Law Practice Program and the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, mentoring and teaching of law students, providing legal support for the establishment of the medical school in Brampton, and was an outstanding leader on anti-Asian racism.
During her time with us, Julia was also active in the legal community, which further enhanced the reputation of our university. She was most recently re-elected a Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario and also served as president of the National GC Network which created summer jobs for law students.
Please join me in congratulating Julia on this remarkable achievement, in thanking her for her leadership, and for all of her hard work over the past decade.
I will keep the community updated on the progress of our search for the next General Counsel, Secretary of the Board of Governors, and University Privacy Officer.
