The Ted Rogers MBA's impact on Shoaib's career and his insights on leadership

I learned a great deal about building a business from the Ted Rogers MBA program. From business fundamentals, finances, strategic thinking, networking (which is king!), leadership, and people development to innovation and creativity, everything that I have applied towards building my business, SCOOTY, is a result of the learnings and experiences provided by the program.

Bold leadership is defined by confidence, courage, and the ability to take risks. Bold leaders are willing to make difficult decisions, take action and go against the norm. They quickly get comfortable with uncertainty and channel their energy toward inviting, inspiring and motivating others to work towards achieving the impossible.

Business leaders and entrepreneurs have a unique opportunity to create solutions for various social and environmental challenges that face our communities. By consciously incorporating sustainability into our businesses, we can help create a more just and equitable society, as well as mitigate the impacts of climate change and protect natural resources for future generations.

There is never a “right” time to make a career move. Frankly, it’s scary because you’re walking into some level of uncertainty. But, looking back, I can see how the Ted Rogers MBA program prepared me to take the leap to build SCOOTY. The hustle, creativity and resourcefulness I gained, along with peer support and industry connections, have benefited me and my business at every turn.

The special events, the speaker sessions, the highly competitive case competitions, not to mention the leadership and guidance of Dr. Dale Carl, Dr. Phil Walsh, Dr. Murtaza Haider, Dr. Fei Song, Dr. Kim Bates, and all the program staff—I was given every opportunity to stretch myself way beyond my comfort zone.

Learn how a Ted Rogers MBA can help you become the kind of leader you’d want to follow.
