Tutoring is available to students enrolled in language courses at TMU.

Please note:

  • Students must use their TMU email for all bookings and communications.
  • Students cannot book more than one session per day and in most cases are limited to one session per week.
  • Tutors are available to help you practice the language for courses you're currently enrolled in. Contact your instructor directly for course questions. Tutors should only be emailed for questions directly related to tutoring sessions.
Language Tutoring Information
American Sign Language for ASL and CASL courses Sarah is your ASL peer tutor this semester!
  • The tutor can clarify signs you may not understand and review course content with you. The tutor does not translate lessons from ASL to English, provide feedback on assessments or contact your instructor on your behalf. Contact your instructor directly for course questions.
  • Limited peer tutoring slots are available Monday 11:30AM-12:30PM and Tuesday 3PM-4PM until December 2, 2024. If you have a course conflict during the available times, feel free to email the ASL tutor for alternative availability. See your course D2L for additional details.

Arabic for ARB and CARB courses Dana is available to tutor you in Arabic this fall!
  • The tutor is available to help you review topics in your ARB and CARB courses and help you practice for oral presentations. Contact your instructor directly for course questions. You may email the Arabic tutor with questions related to tutoring sessions.
  • Tutoring is available Tuesday 3-4PM, Wednesday 2-3PM, and Thursday 1-2PM. You can attend any booked appointment in-person in room POD-247J or online.

French Tutoring for FRE and CFRE courses

Rasha is your French peer tutor for 2024/2025!

  • The tutor can help you review topics in your FRE and CFRE courses, grammar, pronunciation, and conversation. Contact your instructor directly for course questions. You may email the French tutor with questions related to tutoring sessions.
  • Tutoring is available in 20 minute sessions on Thursday 3:30-6PM in POD-247J and Friday 3:30-6PM online until Friday, November 29, 2024.

Spanish Tutoring for SPN and CSPN courses

Dorismel is available as your Spanish tutor this fall!

  • Spanish tutoring is available to help you practice your written and oral Spanish. Contact your instructor directly for questions regarding course assignments.
  • Tutoring is available in Monday 3-5PM and Wednesday 1-3PM until November 27, 2024. You may book a time up to 30 days in advance and email the Spanish tutor for questions directly related to tutoring sessions.

Ranjit Singh Dulai Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes the second-year Language and Intercultural Relations student with the highest CGPA. Funded by a generous donation from Mr. & Mrs. Ranjit Singh Dulai.

Gerd Hauck Award in Intercultural Relations

This award, established in 2024, recognizes engagement and academic achievement of undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Language and Intercultural Relations program at TMU. This award is funded through a philanthropic gift by Dr. Hauck.

French Award Prize

Awarded to a LIR student in the French stream with the highest grade in FRE 501.

Spanish Award Prize

Awarded to a LIR student in the Spanish stream with the highest grade in SPN 501.
