Placement Tests
Prior to registering for their first course in Arabic, Chinese, French or Spanish, students must take a placement test or they will be blocked from enrollment. Placement tests are not required for American Sign Language or Mohawk language courses.
Students may only complete a placement test ONCE for each language, solely to determine the level of their first course in the language. Subsequent attempts are not permitted and will not be evaluated. After completing their first course, students will follow the course pathway.
STEP 1: Complete the placement test (below)
STEP 2: Find your test score
Tests are typically evaluated within 2 - 5 business days. Results will take longer than usual in peak enrollment periods - students should take the test as much in advance as possible. If you do not have a result in MyServiceHub after 5 business days, you may contact the language coordinator listed for that particular language.
- Undergraduate Students: Test scores are posted in MyServiceHub > My Academics > Test Scores Summary
- Chang School Students: If you are enrolling in your first Chang School course (and you are NOT also an Undergraduate student) you will receive an email with your score. Please be sure to Create a Student Profile and obtain a student ID number before taking the placement test. If you are a returning Chang School student your score will be posted in MyServiceHub > My Academics > Test Scores Summary.
STEP 3: Check the Score Guide (opens in new window) to see which courses you are permitted to take with your score. Students may not enroll in courses that are not listed for their score.
