Updates to study permit requirements for certain international students
The Government of Canada recently introduced new requirements for study permit applications. Please visit International Student Support - Study Permit (opens in new window) for details.
The Letter of Acceptance (LOA) document is required for the study permit application. This is found with your Offer of Admission, available in the "My Communications" section of your ChooseTMU Applicant Portal. We will not send the Letter of Acceptance for International Students by courier. You will need to print/ upload the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) document only for your study application process.
Once you have received your Offer of Admission and Letter of Acceptance (LOA), you will be required to accept your offer and pay your tuition deposit. Once your payment has been processed, TMU will request a PAL on your behalf if it is determined that you need one.
We will notify you via your ChooseTMU Applicant Portal if a letter has been requested for you and once it is ready for download via MyServiceHub. Further instructions will be provided when your PAL is available. Visit TMU's FAQ: Updates to Canadian International Study Permit Requirements and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (external link, opens in new window) for further study permit application details.
International Student Support can help answer any questions about immigration, preparing to study in Canada and more! Our team is made up of both Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) and Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC).
Please note that you will be required to include TMU's Designated Learning Institution (DLI) number on your application. Our DLI number is O19395677651.
Once you have applied for your study permit, please submit the Study Permit Form through the “eForms Center” in MyServiceHub on my.torontomu.ca. Please make sure to return to this form and update the status of your study permit application when you receive a response or decision from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

In early December, during your enrolment period, you must enrol in your winter term courses
In late November, your program department will send you additional information, and your specific course enrolment start date will be confirmed on MyServiceHub. See the Course Enrolment page on the Current Students site for additional enrolment information.
Housing and Residence
As a full-time undergraduate incoming student, you are welcome to apply if you are interested in on-campus residence. Applications will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list in the order we receive them. At this time, we recommend considering off-campus options as an alternative to helping you find housing in Toronto.

A number of jobs are available on campus through the International Career Boost program. These positions are not only a great way to earn money, but they provide valuable work experience in academic, administrative and student service departments.
Visit the Career & Co-op Centre website for program eligibility and application instructions.
Confirm Tuition Fees Amount
Tuition and fees are charged based on your course enrolments, and your winter term fees can be viewed on your MyServiceHub student account starting in December. As fees are based on your enrolments, the fees balance posted on your MyServiceHub account may not reflect the correct amount until you have completed your course enrolments. For an estimate of your fees, visit the Undergraduate Tuition and Fees page.
Pay Tuition Fees
Visit How to Pay Your Tuition and Fees for information on how to pay your tuition fees through online banking. The tuition fee due date will be announced shortly.
Access Your TMU Student Account and Email at my.torontomu.ca
At the end of November, you will be granted full access to your TMU student account, allowing you to access all current student academic and financial features on MyServiceHub, as well as the full suite of Google Apps.
In late November to early December, you will automatically be prompted to create a TMU username and set-up your student email address (name@torontomu.ca) when you log into my.torontomu.ca. Once your email has been set up, all official university communications will be sent there. Remember to check it frequently!
Update Your Chosen/Preferred First Name
You have the option to use your chosen/preferred first name for internal purposes on campus, including as your display name in D2L Brightspace, Google Workspace and Zoom. It will also display to your instructors on class rosters and grade rosters.
You can update your chosen/preferred first name in MyServiceHub. Update your name before you apply for your student OneCard to ensure that it appears on your card. Also, updating your chosen first name before classes begins will ensure that it appears on class rosters. If you update your name after classes begin, your instructors may not know to use your updated name unless you contact them directly.
Note that your legal name on your student record will continue to be used for external purposes and on all official university documents such Official Transcripts and Graduation Awards.
Get Your OneCard
Your OneCard is one of the most important tools you'll need while studying at TMU. Apply online for your free card by using the OneCard application portal.
You can add your Digital OneCard to your smartphone/smartwatch via Apple or Google Wallet. It can be used to enter buildings on campus, access university services, and pay for products safely and securely.
You still need to pick up a physical OneCard. The physical OneCard will be used as identification during exams, tests, and other assessments. When picking up your physical OneCard, please know your student number and bring a valid piece of government ID.
Get your GO Transit Discount Card
If you are a full-time student, you are eligible for GO Transit Student ID Cards, which can get you a discounted rate on GO Transit using your PRESTO Card.
Access Your Health and Dental Plans
TMU students are automatically covered for extended health and dental insurance coverage.
