Four Indigenous students on the TMU campus.

Are you a new or returning Indigenous student at TMU?

Join Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services for an engaging afternoon as we warmly welcome new students and reconnect with returning students.

Connect with fellow Indigenous community members

This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the Indigenous community, including fellow Indigenous students. Discover services and participate in ceremony, drumming, singing and dancing.

Join traditional sweetgrass braiding teachings

Connect and learn the traditional teaching of sweetgrass braiding with Samantha William-Barrantes, Indigenous Engagement Coordinator, Urban Farm. Sweetgrass has many different teachings depending on the Nation but traditionally it is Mother Earth's hair, which is sacred. It reminds us of her kindness, gentleness and love. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the traditional practice with others and take home your own braided sweetgrass.

Meet partners and learn about TMU services

Participants will also be invited to meet on and off-campus partners and learn about the services and supports available to you.

Enter to win prizes and enjoy refreshments

Light refreshments will be provided, and all those who register will be eligible to win door prizes, including gift cards to spend at the TMU Campus Store, coffee shops and grocery stores.
