Interim Associate Dean, Programs
The Associate Dean, Programs, works closely with the Vice-Provost and Dean to manage the graduate component of the institutional quality assurance process (IQAP), mandated by the Quality Council. This includes supporting graduate programs through the Periodic Program Review Process (Policy 126), new program development (Policy 112) and curriculum modifications (Policy 127). The Associate Dean collaborates with various graduate stakeholders to maintain overall compliance with the Quality Assurance Framework of the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.
About Dr. Mehrab Mehrvar
Dr. Mehrvar has a strong commitment to education and research. His main research interests include the integration of advanced oxidation technologies and biological processes for the treatment of water and wastewater, photochemical reaction engineering, and the effects of climate change on the quality and quantity of water. He has published more than 137 refereed journal papers, a patent, six book chapters, 39 papers in conference proceedings, and more than 238 presentations in national and international conferences. Dr. Mehrvar has conducted more than 30 international invited seminars and workshops, and has supervised/co-supervised more than 55 graduate students, more than 70 research assistants, exchange students, postdocs and visiting scholars.
Dr. Mehrvar’s administrative experience is extensive and includes numerous committees at the department, faculty and university levels. He served as Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering from 2009 to 2011, Interim Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, FEAS, in 2024, and Associate Chair of Graduate Studies since 2020. He has also been active in professional societies, serving as chair of several international conferences, a member of organizing committees for various international conferences, an invited lecturer, an international research collaborator and a senior life member of AIChE. Additionally, Dr. Mehrvar has served as both an editor and editorial board member for several refereed journals.
