New gifts
A gift from Andrew and Valerie Pringle, Radio and Television Arts ‘74, will turn the Ryerson Urban Farm into a Living Lab and enable a team of researchers to explore evidence-based modelling for replicating urban rooftop farms.
Andrew and Valerie Pringle, Radio and Television Arts ‘74, have made a generous commitment of $250,000 to the Centre for Studies in Food Security in the School of Nutrition at the Faculty of Community Services. This gift will turn the Ryerson Urban Farm into a Living Lab and enable a team of researchers to explore evidence-based modelling for replicating urban rooftop farms to bring the benefits of rooftop farming to more sites, cities and people. The team will be led by Fiona Yeudall, associate professor and associate director, Dietetics, School of Nutrition and supported by Arlene Thorness, manager, Ryerson Urban Farm.

The Toronto Eglinton Rotary Club (external link) has generously committed $105,000 to support Indigenous students. The Supporting Aboriginal Graduate Enhancement (SAGE) Award, to be first offered in 2019-20, will encourage and support Indigenous graduate students at Ryerson with goals of pursuing a career in academia. This gift will also provide continued funding for the Toronto Eglinton Rotary Club/Dr. Robert McClure Award in Health Sciences, which supports Aboriginal students pursuing a degree in a health science program in the Faculty of Community Services.
