Our staff complete a wide range of tasks that are scheduled to maximize our resources while providing the best standard of service. We are committed to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment, both inside TMU-owned buildings and across campus grounds.
Custodial Services: What we do
Our custodial team completes a wide range of cleaning and sanitation tasks. These are prescribed and scheduled based on the nature of each space, the types of activities carried out within it, and the furniture, fixtures and equipment that it contains.
Contracted custodial-service workers complete the deep-cleaning tasks overnight and TMU porters operate in multiple shifts during the day. The porters move through each building continuously to clean high-touch surfaces and perform any needed spot cleaning. They service waste and recycling stations, restock hand sanitizer, soap and consumables and verify that hand dryers and plumbing are working.
Groundskeeping: What we do
The groundskeeping crew is responsible for our landscaping, power washing of pathways, snow removal, litter clean-up, and the general cleaning and maintenance of outdoor features and furniture.
In the warmer months, they tend our greenspaces to optimize the successful growth and lifecycle of our plantings and maintain our outdoor amenities to support outdoor programming and open-space activities. In winter, the grounds crew pretreats all outdoor routes with brine and salt to melt ice and continuously plow, shovel and de-ice during snowfalls.
