All community members are welcome to join the Positive Space Faculty and Staff Network and the Trans Collective (external link)  as we observe the Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR). Started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith, TDOR is an annual observance on November 20th that honours the memory of trans people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-trans violence.

What to expect

The event will begin at noon and include reflections from community members to honour the memory of trans and non-binary individuals who have been subject to violence.

Archivists Roxy Moon and Jade Nelson from the ArQuives (external link)  will give a short presentation on trans history and remembrance in Canada, and how it is reflected in individuals and collections in Canada’s largest LGBTQ2+ archives.

Registration is not required.

Honour a loved one

All community members are welcome to submit a name to be read aloud (external link)  during the Trans Remembrance Day, you're welcome to add it to this form by the end of the day on Monday, November 18.
