The successful applicant will be a doctoral student who will work with a larger interdisciplinary team of researchers and students in a project led by the University of Toronto, with participation from several universities across Canada,  (including McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University), to develop innovative, socially informed energy storage solutions to help Canada advance towards its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. 

 

The qualified applicant will have (1) qualitative methods skills (including the ability to analyze interview and focus group data and (2) an interest in critical energy policy. 

MASc or PhD The applicant will report to Dr. Cheryl Teelucksingh (teeluck@torontomu.ca) at Toronto Metropolitan University. • The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in, and potentially work experience related to, renewable energy transitions and justice from a social science perspective. • Applicants must have a relevant master’s degree (e.g., political science, geography, environmental studies, or a related discipline) completed before the start date. • Be open to interdisciplinary research and working as part of an academic team • Interested in learning approaches and theories of community engagement and energy and sustainability transitions, • have an interest in policy analysis, sustainability, and social justice; • are familiar with social science methods such as qualitative interviews, surveys and/or statistics; • are proficient in English; • are motivated to work independently. • are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workspace.
