Thiago Ramos Fernandes
Research Fellow
Dr. Thiago Ramos Fernandes is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Urban Energy (CUE). He received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Campinas (Brazil). During his Ph.D., he remained at Toronto Metropolitan University as a visiting Ph.D. student for two years. His research interests involve transmission and distribution system analysis, energy efficiency in buildings, and grid-connected battery energy storage systems.
Since joining the CUE as a postdoctoral research fellow in 2021, Dr. Fernandes has actively contributed to industrial and research projects for our industry partners, including Toronto Hydro and Toronto Community Housing. His current responsibilities include developing planning and operation strategies for large-scale grid-connected battery energy storage systems and developing innovative solutions to increase energy efficiency in large commercial buildings. Dr. Fernandes is a member of IEEE.
