Yu (Yvonne) Huang

Yu Huang is currently pursuing a PhD in the School of Arts and Humanities at Edith Cowan University. She has earned an MPhil in Childhood Studies from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2022) and an MA in Social Work from Nord University (2017) in Norway. She was a visiting fellow at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.

Yu’s main research interests focus on the intergenerational relationships of Chinese transnational migrant families. Her ongoing PhD project compares two education-led Chinese migrant families to analyze the decision making and intergenerational dynamics during the process of family migration to Australia and Canada. Additionally, she is currently involved in the DemiKnow project, which brings together four migration research centres in Australia, Canada, China and India to create new knowledge and to raise awareness and understanding of global south perspectives in migration scholarship.
