Lucas Moreira dos Anjos Santos

Lucas Santos is lecturer at the Monash Intercultural Lab (external link) . His main interests focus on how global issues, such as racism, difference and belonging, can be addressed through intercultural studies, with particular emphasis on sporting cultures. Lucas’s research focuses on how difference is socially constructed and enacted across institutional, organizational and community contexts. He is currently investigating racism within the Australian Football League (AFL), with a particular emphasis on how fractures and tensions across the wider Australian society reverberate through sports. He is also interested in the changing demographic shifts in cricket, driven by global migration patterns, and how it contests ‘sanctioned’ narratives of what sporting codes mean to different social groups.
