About the Experiential Learning Hub 

The Experiential Learning (EL) Hub at Toronto Metropolitan University is one of six resources within the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Through a collaborative approach, the Centre fosters a community dedicated to big thinking about curriculum, pedagogy and creative ways of developing inclusive teaching practices that enrich the student learning experience.

The EL Hub is a gathering place for ideas, knowledge creation, and skill-building. Driven by the values of equity, excellence, collaboration and impact, we support and provide resources for those interested in curating academically relevant experiential learning opportunities. As the primary support for the experiential learning community at Toronto Metropolitan University, we foster a culture of excellence and innovation in teaching, working to continually enhance student learning and community impact.

The Opportunity

Funding for this position has been made available by CEWIL Canada through CEWIL iHub (external link) , which seeks to support the advancement and innovation in work-integrated learning (WIL) while ensuring access to WIL and that WIL projects are delivered with appropriate quality and learning standards for students.

The Project Coordinator, Pathways to Equity will coordinate the successful planning and execution of an exciting new bursary program offered to equity-deserving undergraduate students who are involved in work-integrated learning activities in the 2024 summer or fall semester.  Working closely with the Project Manager, Equity, Training and Partnerships, this role will coordinate the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the program, provide day-to-day administrative and analytical support and support the work of the bursary selection committee.  The Project Coordinator will also develop communication materials for the successful marketing and promotion of the program, monitor the progress and finances of the program’s budget and generate data to support in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the program for both the funder and TMU.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in project management, business administration or a related field is preferred, however other relevant educational and experiential backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project coordination and budget administration experience in a similar role.  
  • At least 1 year experience coordinating and/or providing project management support to projects / programs for students with a specific equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility focus. 
  • Strong understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility principles and ability to embed these principles throughout the entirety of the project. 
  • Experience preparing, interpreting and scheduling implementation plans with project management tools and concepts.
  • Experience with database and project management applications.
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder communications and ability to maintain relationships.
  • Familiarity with the different forms of experiential learning and the role that community/industry partners have in delivering work-integrated learning opportunities to students is considered an asset. 
  • Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral & written) skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Basic accounting and bookkeeping skills.
  • Knowledge of financial systems.
  • Client service skills.
  • Research skills.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office and Google Suite.

A note on qualifications:
