The Toronto Met Career, Co-op & Student Success Centre offers a faculty-based model of operation to help your organization target the best and brightest that Toronto Metropolitan University has to offer. We offer a wide range of events and programs to help you achieve your hiring goals and raise your brand profile.

Case competitions run throughout the academic year and are a great way to evaluate the problem solving, teamwork, and presentation skills of pre-qualified Toronto Met students. Employers are engaged to act as judges and encouraged to utilize the event to network and recruit students.
Mentoring is an excellent way to learn as well as give back, share your experience, and guide students on their career journeys. The Toronto Met Tri-Mentoring Career Mentoring Program will help you make a connection with a current Toronto Met student.
A Career Mentor is:
- A guide and adviser to a third/fourth or final year student (Career Mentee), providing insight into a particular industry sector or type of profession.
- Provides constructive criticism and encouragement to their mentee as they progress towards their goals.
- Culturally sensitive and possesses strong interpersonal skills.

This is for any organization – not-for-profits, small & medium enterprises, large corporations, and public sector organizations – who want to host experiential learning (EL) opportunities for students at Toronto Metropolitan University.
EL provides students with hands-on learning experiences that contribute to their personal and career development, and these opportunities come in a diverse and broad array of formats and structures like:
- internships
- co-op and work placements
- practicums
- hackathons
- project-based learning
- community-driven research.
Your organization can benefit when you partner with Toronto Metropolitan University on EL projects and placements. Our students can provide you with fresh perspectives on challenges, new and creative ideas, a more diverse mindset, up-to-date knowledge and skills, and a talent pipeline for the future.

Reach a targeted group of students on-campus, present in-depth information about your organization’s career opportunities, application methods and culture, and talk to students about an aspect of the recruitment process specific to your industry.
Student registration is tracked and we work with each individual employer to rigorously promote your event.
If you want to interview Toronto Met students and new grads, we can help*. For employers that have posted jobs via Toronto Met’s online jobs portal, Magnet, interviews can be arranged at no additional cost.
NOTE: During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are facilitating virtual interviews. In fact, we offer the option of virtual interviews at all times.
The university continues to monitor the Provincial government’s reopening framework and is in regular contact with all levels of government. Once approved, we can schedule on-campus interviews again.
*Interview rooms can be provided (space permitting) Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on Fridays.
Networking events are organized for specific groups of students and/or alumni and can be degree, program or faculty specific.

The following policy applies to any third-party organizations operating on behalf of their clients for the purpose of recruitment or promotion of opportunities, including but not limited to:
- Third-party recruitment agencies
- Individual/independent third-party recruiters
- Temp agencies
- Staffing firms
- Organizations operating in a bonded recruitment model
These organizations are hereinafter referred to as “third parties”.
Participation in student-facing events and programming
The Career, Co-op & Student Success Centre (CC&SS) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) periodically hosts student/alumni facing events throughout the academic year. While the topics and intentions of these events vary, the 2 primary focus areas are:
- Events where the intended outcome is hiring students and/or alumni, or developing an early talent pipeline (i.e. career fairs or virtual information sessions)
- Events where the intended outcome is student/alumni engagement or knowledge transfer (i.e. panels, thought leadership discussions, mentoring opportunities, workshops, etc)
Events with a focus on hiring students/alumni are reserved exclusively for employer partners that are hiring for their own internal positions. At the discretion of the CC&SS, third parties may participate in these events under their own corporate identity for their own internal positions, but cannot under any circumstances promote opportunities for clients that they represent, nor can any other services and/or products be promoted.
Events with a focus on knowledge transfer may be attended by third parties, so long as the third party in question is representing their own organization and not their client(s).
TMU’s CC&SS reserves the right to decline any organization’s participation at any event for any reason, specified or unspecified
Posting job opportunities on TMU portals
TMU’s CC&SS supports postings on 2 unique portals:
- A portal for full time/part time positions, internships, summer work opportunities, etc
- A portal for co-op opportunities
The CC&SS allows third parties to post opportunities on behalf of their clients so long as the following process is followed:
- Upon receipt of a request to post a position by a third party, the third party will be asked to identify their client(s) to the CC&SS team
- Recognizing that confidentiality clauses may be enforced to represent clients, this information will be held in strict confidence and not released to candidates or referenced in the actual job posting unless authorized by the third party
- Should the third party be unable or unwilling to provide the name of their employer client, the position will not be accepted for posting
- The CC&SS team will then check our portals to verify that the position has not already been posted by the client that the third party is representing, or another third party
- If the position has not been posted, the third party will advise on whether the name of their client can be referenced, and the CC&SS team will then approve it to be posted
- If the position has already been posted on our portals, the position will not be accepted for posting
- In an effort to safeguard our students and alumni, third parties may be required to provide written proof and/or a contact at the client(s) they represent to verify that they are authorized to recruit on behalf of the client(s) prior to posting any positions
All opportunities posted in our portals must be paid opportunities with an hourly or salaried compensation equal to minimum wage at the current time. The only exception to this rule is if the program the student is enrolled in has a mandated practicum requirement.
The following types of opportunities will not be considered for posting in our portals:
- 100% commission based
- Any mix of hourly/salaried compensation combined with commission where the base salary is not equal to the minimum wage
- Positions with any period of unpaid training
- Opportunities where applicants are mandated/required to work at organizations for a specific time period and can incur penalties (monetary or otherwise) for not completing the specified term
TMU’s CC&SS reserves the right to decline any job posting for any reason, specified or unspecified.
