Canada’s Systems of Government
In analyzing Canada’s federal political system, this course assesses the ideas, interests and institutions that help define limits of both state and societal power. It provides students with a clear understanding of the system of governance guiding the lives of Canadian citizens and how it intersects, clashes or complements the lives of Indigenous people and governments. Topics include political culture and ideas, the social and economic context and the constitutional and institutional mechanisms of
governance.
