State Violence and Resistance
This course examines the intersections of state violence, carcerality, and resistance. Through an exploration of theoretical concepts and real-world case studies of state violence - including police violence, surveillance, genocide and the suppression of dissent - the course analyzes the impact of state violence, community-based resistance strategies, alternatives to punitive carceral systems, carceral abolition and transformative justice.
