Food, Communication and Culture

This course examines how we communicate ideas about food in various media. Discourses covered include nutrition, diet, consumption, gastronomy, justice and equity, journalism, and marketing. The symbolic significance of food is shown across diverse professions, cultures, and audiences, using case studies to analyse the strategies and impacts that politics, science, business and social factors have on how we communicate ideas about food, eating, agriculture, nutrition policy and dietary advice.
