Feminism and French Literature
This course, taught in English, introduces students to feminist theory and literature in the Francophone world, particularly the movement known as French feminism. Students will analyze literary works, manifestos and theoretical writings by Francophone authors such as Simone de Beauvoir, Hélène Cixous, Annie Ernaux, and Fatima Mernissi. Topics include French feminist history and the impact of existentialism, psychoanalysis, Marxism, gender studies, and post-colonialism on French feminist thought and literature.
