Illustration and Fashion Activism

This upper-level course is devoted to drawing and visually representing complex issues related to fashion activism, examining issues central to the fashion industry. Subjects such as social justice, sustainability and diversity will be explored in editorial illustration. Illustration has been a critical method for communicating underrepresented voices and perspectives on difficult subjects by visually commenting on or educating through symbol, poetry, metaphor, or as blatant and confrontational visual messaging. This course provides an opportunity for an in-depth and critical approach to creating meaningful and multi-faceted fashion imagery.
