Design Literacy I
This course introduces elements and principles of design with a focus on design’s relationship to social, cultural, political and ecological conditions. Lectures will discuss theory related to the analysis of design principles and concepts across disciplines. Students will become familiar with the vocabulary and theory necessary to critically assess design media and artifacts. Studio projects provide an opportunity for students to explore the relationship between formal elements and concepts. Studio format with online lectures/instructional materials.
