Human Rights in History
This introductory course places human rights into a global historical perspective to examine the origins and evolution of the concept. Students will explore the religious, philosophical, and cultural foundations of our modern human rights system, study how individuals and groups have historically fought for greater human rights protections, and examine the challenges involved in developing a set of universal international human rights laws.
